Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was spoken with by department officers about importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These kinds of items being offered, typically online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
